Tag Day – August: Tag Day is a door to door solicitation of the Sycamore Community School District by the students, grades 7 – 12, enrolled in the district’s Instrumental Music Program. Almost 50 years ago members of the Sycamore Band started to collect funds to help supplement the needs of the program. Now all the band and orchestra students help reach more locations on the day than ever before. About 130 parent volunteers are needed to help throughout the event. All monies raised are deposited into SBOB’s general fund.
Lollipop Sale – August/October: Lollipops are sold at all varsity home football games. Parents circulate through the crowd selling lollipops. The profits from each event are distributed among the individuals who participate and are deposited into student accounts.
Craft Show – November: The Sycamore Band and Orchestra Boosters Sponsor a Craft Show each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The event serves many purposes; a performance venue for the bands in the district grades 7 - 12; a wide variety of home made crafters will be on display for purchase; and as a fundraiser for the Sycamore Band and Orchestra Boosters. Monies made from the Craft Show come from the vendors who “purchase” booth space to display their products. The last few years we average almost 200 Vendors. ENTRANCE TO THE SHOW IS FREE FOR EVERYONE. SBOB will also be offering a bake sale, raffle and snacks through out the day. About 50 parent volunteers are needed to help throughout the event. The craft show was started in the late 90’s. All monies raised are deposited into SBOB’s general fund.
Flower Sale – Jan/February: Participants raved about how GREAT the plants were. Since many of us already purchase plants and flowers for our home each year, you can now purchase these from SBOB and pick them up in one central and convenient location. You will receive high quality plants raised by one of SW Ohio’s leading growers, Fred C Koch Greenhouses, at prices comparable to leading home building supply stores. These plants are the caliber usually sold to area landscapers and municipalities who demand high quality goods. PLUS, SBOB AND THE INDIVIDUAL SELLER WILL SHARE IN THE PROFITS. THAT’S RIGHT…. Just be sure your son or daughter puts their name on the order form and 20%(increased starting with the 2010 sale) of the orders they collect will be deposited in their student account; the balance goes into SBOB’s general fund.
Pancake Day – March: Pancake Day stared back in 1962 and has grown into part of the Sycamore Fine Arts Festival. We invite you, your friends, and relatives to partake in the scrumptious pancake meal while you listen to performances of the district’s bands and orchestras. There is a cost for eating breakfast, but the Pancake seconds are free! There is no charge for listening to groups performing or for attending the Art Show. About 130 parent volunteers are needed to help throughout the event. All monies raised are deposited into SBOB’s general fund.
Homearama – June: Each year Homearama is a huge event in Cincinnati. During the last few years, SBOB has been asked to provide hosts at one of the properties. If you decide to be a host your duties will include: welcoming guests; opening and closing the doors; directing the visitors; and/or giving information out about this beautiful home. We will need volunteers for the entire event, time slots are 2.5 to 3 hours in length, depending on the day. For each hour you host, approximately $11.00 will be deposited into your son or daughter’s student account.
Scrip – ALL YEAR: The Great Lakes Scrip program is a great way to accumulate funds to pay for any high school music program expenses. Great Lakes Scrip offers gift cards that can be used at hundreds of stores, restaurants, gas stations and hotels nationwide. Each card is sold at a discount ranging from 1.5-40%; you pay the face value of the gift card, and the amount of the discount is credited to your child’s Student Account. You also have the option of donating the monies to SBOB’s general fund. The program is open to instrumental music program students in grades 7-12, and it couldn’t be easier! No order is too large or too small, and Scrip cards make great gifts!
Kroger Cards – ALL YEAR: Everyone needs groceries, so why not let 4% of your grocery bill benefit you student’s involvement in the instrumental music program. With a Kroger Neighborhood Reward Gift Card, fundraising is as easy as going to Kroger to shop. There is no extra cost associated with the program. A $25 reload to a gift card is redeemable for $25 in merchandise. When you enter the store use your credit card to reload your card and also earn reward points/miles etc. Anyone who purchases groceries is a potential customer! Your profit continues to build when you reload your existing card. Gift cards may be used to purchase virtually anything at Kroger including fuel. Kroger services are exempt from this program. Profits program can be deposited into individual student accounts or SBOB’s general fund.
